Oct 31 Jasper Tour including Jasper Sky Tram, Lunch at Jasper Park Lodge & optional self-guided short hike & Return to Edmonton Self hosted dinner

Description: Soak up the majestic views as you ride the Jasper SkyTram all the way to the top. At 2,277 metres, stroll the Summit Trail while enjoying 360 vistas of the Rockies. End this perfect day with a delicious meal at the historic Jasper Park Lodge.

Nov 1 Dairy & Vegetable (Rock Ridge Dairy– Lacombe, AB) (Sunfresh Farms– Edmonton, AB) & (Doef’s Greenhouse– Lacombe, AB) Value Chains Tours & Dinner at La Ronde

Description: Dairy and vegetables are the order of the day. In central Alberta, Rock Ridge Dairy milks both cattle and goats; they also process and package onsite. Doef’s 11-acre greenhouse defies Alberta’s short growing season by producing veggies year-round. Sunfresh Farms distributes locally grown produce across western Canada from their state-of-the-art facility in west Edmonton. After a day of touring, enjoy Edmonton’s night-time skyline, along with its finest dining at La Ronde.

Nov 2 Cropping Value Chain Tours (Galloway Seeds– Fort Saskatchewan, AB) (Rig Hand Distillery– Nisku, AB) & Self hosted dinner at West Edmonton Mall

Description: Galloway Seeds is a family farm that grows pedigreed seed, and cleans, tests, grades, bags, and retails it too. Even post-harvest, this farm is a busy place with plenty to see, including a large array of cropping equipment. Rig Hand Craft Distillery is a pioneer in the production of Alberta vodka, gin, brum, and whiskey. Their grains come straight from local farmers. Sip their exquisite spirits, while experiencing an education in distilling.

Nov 8 Farmfair International & International Reception

After the conference wraps up at lunch you are free to explore Farmfair International, one of Canada’s largest livestock shows. In the evening, the delegates will take in the International Reception to network with Canadian ag industry stakeholders and try some local fare. At the conclusion of the reception, there will be the opportunity to attend the Heritage Ranch Rodeo. Note: All delegates are invited to attend for the afternoon of the 8th.

Nov 9 AgriTrade Tour (Red Deer, AB)

Delegates have the option to attend Farmfair International on their own or to take the in the tour to AgriTrade in Red Deer, AB. This agriculture equipment show is one of the largest in Canada. Tour will include a show tour and lunch, courtesy of Agri-Trade.

Description: Check out the shiniest, most innovative farm machinery at Agri-Trade Equipment Expo in Red Deer. With over 470 exhibitors, Agri-Trade is one of the hottest agricultural equipment shows in North America. While cropping is the focus, machinery from other sectors is represented too. It’s a farmer’s tech dream.

Nov 10 Farmfair International (Alberta Supreme Show of Champions) & Dinner at Craft Beer Market

It is Super Saturday at Farmfair International! Highlights include Prospect Steer & Heifer Show, Bull Pen Show, Stock Dog Competition and the crowning glory of the Alberta Supreme Show.

Description: You’ll be awestruck by the best of the best of Alberta’s purebred beef herd at the Supreme Show of Champions. The Supreme is the highlight of the show season, bringing together the breed champions from the three top cattle shows in the province. These animals are beautiful! Feel the excitement as the grand champion winners are given the traditional slap.

Nov 11 Beef Farm Tours

The choice is yours once again! Options include attending the youth showcase at Farmfair International where the juniors are taking to the rings or to head out to tour beef farms that have a purebred focus.

Description: Three purebred beef cattle farms are on the agenda today. Get a behind-the-scenes view of Alberta’s booming seedstock industry. You’ll meet the people doing the hard work–raising the animals, developing the genetics, and making them available to the producers throughout the world.
